discworld DISCWORLD discword!
I learned of the most AMAZING and AWESOME thing to ever grace the intarweb ..ever the other day!

I know that to yourself, you are saying "Self?! Er.. I mean "Self?!Mark?! What is this most awesome of things?! Will you not tell us?!" Well, I shall! I shall tell you!

Discworld is finally getting a North American Convention!!!!(Four exclamation marks. Not five. I am not insane. Just very excited)

For those unfamiliar with it, Discworld is the book series written by Terry Pratchett that revolves around the 'Discworld', a plate-shaped landmass that rests on the back of four elephants which, in turn, rest on the back of a giant space-faring turtle.

So..the fact that Disworld is finally getting a North American convention? Supersweet. But that's not the best part!

The best part is that it is GOING TO BE IN PHOENIX!!!!! (Oops..used five that time..)

More specifically, Tempe, but regardless it'll be all of a twenty minute drive away.

You have absolutely no idea how fuckin' stoked I am over that.

A post?! Gasp! Yes, I said gasp instead of actually gasping.
I know it's been like..guh, months an months since I've last posted anything but a comment in here, but I'm up, and nothing's going on so I figured why the hell not.

I've been playing a couple of games recently. A GBA strat/RPG/Cardgame called Yggdra Union, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates for the DS, and of course, Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Wii.

Mostly I just wanted to write this so that I could gush about the two later.

Ring of Fates is pretty fun thus far. But I'm only four hours into it, so it could devolve into a giant crapfest for all I know. One thing I *have* noticed about it, however, is that apparently the developers thought people have THREE FUCKING HANDS and made the game accordingly. Because, I don't know about you, but running around with the d-pad using one hand, and then swinging my sword and attacking with the other hand by pressing "A" (visible on the top screen) while SIMULTANEOUSLY using the touch screen on the bottom to unleash special attacks..seems a bit uh..busy. Aside from that though, it's a lot of fun and I'm enjoying the story.

And Smash Brothers? Well, it's a Smash Brothers game, so you *know* it's going to be fun.

What I did not expect was how awesome the single-player mode would be. The Subspace Emissary is just eight different kinds of fun, and despite having no dialog makes for a very compelling tale in my humble opinion.

And I can't get the theme out of my head. >.<

Anywho.

For those who are Wii-ically inclined and have teh intarwebs, here's my friend code for anyone that wants to online brawl. Go go 100hours of brawl time trophy.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In November I helped [info]remylicious across the street (6 points). Last Tuesday I pulled [info]kiretozhe's hair (-5 points). Last Monday I committed genocide... Sorry about that, [info]spooie (-5000 points). In February I bought porn for [info]the_fact (10 points). Last Saturday I caught a purse-snatcher who stole [info]ehzoterik's purse (30 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-4959 points). For Christmas I deserve a lump of coal!

Sincerely,
Corlanthis

A lengthy return! And some quick hits.
Did I suggest in one of my previous posts that I'd post more? I bet I did. Well, here you here. Don't spend it all in one place because it'll probably be another year before I post again.

- I've been working at Wal-Mart for a year now and while I'm budgeting my money marginally better than I ever did at Fry's, I still have next to nothing to show for it. Okay, the first year's over. Time to focus.

- Movies movies and more movies. Shrek III - disapointing. Spider-man 3 - acceptable but sub-par. Transformers - Freakin' awesome! The Simpsons - Hilarious. And I simply cannot WAIT to see Balls of Fury.

- Y'all need to make characters on This page and This page. Then you need to come join in the Duel of the Fists at the Outback on Tuesdays so I have something to do. Please?

- When I quit working at Fry's, I had been in the middle of trying to procure a rather difficult part for my car. I put off getting it while working at Wal-mart because, well, out of sight, out of mind mostly. Maybe it's time to look back into that.

- Is anyone else as jazzed (hah!) about this new Transformer's cartoon as I am? Seriously, I am so stoked it's like whoa.

- I was so completely behind the current storyline rocking the Green Lantern books that it wasn't even funny. Any time writers reference throw-away plot points from issues of the comic written decades ago just strikes me as awesome. Right up until Kyle was turned into Parallax at least. I don't approve of that.

- Scrubs is hilarious and you all need to watch it.

- And speaking of: Where, oh where has my Bobbie-Girl gone? Where, oh where can she be?

- The Dark is Rising is being made into a movie! Those of you who have gone to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix might have caught the trailer for the movie "The Seeker". That would be it.

Okay, and I think that's it folks. Who knows, you might get posts more regularly now. I don't know. Don't hold your breath. ;)

More of the same and a little more of the different.
I have a job again. Yay. Night stocking at Wal-Mart, and while many will scoff and shake their heads in disdain, I have to say I'm enjoying the shit out of my job. After working in Produce for the last six years, anything different is a plus.

Oh,and my house was broken into and robbed sunday night. They didn't take much. Mostly ransacked my brother's room and stole all of our video-game console systems..what the hell?

So, I am currently a video gamer with no consoles. Life is bleak.

Anywho. Stolen from Ess-Jay.

Weee, It's a post! Weeee.
Lots of stuff happening lately. I'll try to hit as much of it as I can remember to hit.

-Myspace proves not-entirely useless.

I've run into a couple of old friends from highschool and even before through Myspace. So while I'm not all about stalking people and combing through their friends lists, it's nice to run into people unexpectedly.

-Messages from beyond the Grave.

We were contacted recently by my..er..father's wife. I hate saying that. When he first tried to get back into contact with us near on a year and a half - two years ago, he wanted to finalize a divorce from my mother so that he could marry a new woman he'd met over in Georgia. One of the stipulations of said divorce would be that my mother would give up all claims upon him for Child Support (that he never paid *any* of) on behalf of my brother and I. That seemed to be par for the course for him. Forgiveness without accountability. He's sorry only so long as he never has to prove it.

At any rate, about a year ago he died due to liver failure and possibly some cancer. My feelings on that are chronicled elsewhere in here, so I'm not getting into it.

Flash forward to *now*. My brother got a call from my father's new wife in Georgia. Apparently a company my father worked for here in Pheonix was trying to contact "Mrs. Gillespie" and contacted her. They actually were looking for my mother.

It seems my when my father was working here in Pheonix, he had a 401K set up, with my brother and I as the beneficiaries, and now that he's dead we inherit it.

-I can't drive 55

My car runs! It's been a hell of a time getting here, but now I have a working vehicle.
She may not look the prettiest, and she still has some things needed to be done. I need to flush all her fluids and fix a few minor things yet, or at least work the kinks out of them. A new paint job. Clean the interior but good.

But soon enough, in time...she will sing.

Okay, the last change, I promise.

At least until I decide this one isn't "Me" either and go back to my original Blue Journal look.

Besides this one was called "That Green Superhero" how could I resist?
